The Internet for Kids!

Today we see that kids are using the internet more than ever, especially little kids.  The typical web browsers like Safari and Firefox try to pack themselves with features for the typical user.  However, kids aren’t that sophisticated.  Therefore it became logical to create a browser that had less features and bookmarks for the fun sites for kids on the internet.  A browser where you could leave your kids in front of the computer knowing they won’t be going to MySpace for YouTube.

Features:

Scavenger features a fun user interface free of the OS X look.  It uses Apple’s built in Safari engine to render pages.  Any plug-in’s you have installed in Safari, Scavenger can take advantage of them.

Scavenger also contains bookmarks to kid-friendly sites like Noggin, Nickelodeon and others.

Part of the reason scavenger can keep your kids safe is that it restricts itself from going to any other site except those you on the home page.  If there are other sites you’d like to add send an e-mail to djmacintosh@gmail.com with your submission.  Scavenger uses a built-in google search until the site is added.

Scavenger does not allow for downloading files.  Any files on the internet will need to be installed by you using another browser.

Truly, Scavenger is a great browser to help you control your kids browsing experience.  Remember no piece of technology can take the place of good parenting, ultimately it’s your responsibility.
